Can I Take CBD With Me When I Travel?

Stay Informed

So, you’ve started taking CBD and are planning an exciting vacation—maybe to a state you’ve never been or a country you’ve wanted to see. You’re probably wondering if you can take your CBD with you. It’s a common cause for questions! Some people consume CBD prior to flights or long drives to relax, so it’s great to ask questions and make sure that you are well informed about how to travel with CBD.

Traveling in the States

When traveling within the U.S., it’s important to make sure that any CBD products you bring with you are compliant with federal regulations. This means that they must contain less than 0.3% of THC. If you decide to take a CBD product with you, only take a product that you are certain complies with this restriction.

International Travel

CBD is not legal in some countries, so make sure to research the regulations in any country you plan to visit. This is not true of just the rules surrounding CBD, but also a good practice to get into for international travel—know the laws and regulations for the places you plan to go!

Traveling with Different CBD Products

Assuming your CBD products are compliant and legal in the place(s) you plan to visit, you are set to take them with you! You can pack gummies or CBD isolate powder in a carry-on bag, and if you plan to take oil with you, just make sure it is in a bottle that contains 3.4 ounces or less, with the bottle in a quart-sized plastic bag (and with other liquids you are taking with you). Store the plastic bag somewhere accessible so you can take it out easily during security checks.

If you take CBD capsules, make sure they are completely solid. Liquid capsules may run the risk of having more liquid than is acceptable.

We hope this helps you prepare to travel with your CBD!
